Why? Isn't everyone responsible for their own level of excitment? You're bored? Light your head on fire! I saw a guy once who was bored, standing around talking to another guy who was trying to get something done, and about that time a welder above him lost a great big gobb of molten steel off the edge of a beam right down into the bored guy's shirt collar. He was not bored no more. He went to doing the cha cha, and there wasn't even any music playing. I forgot my knife, and some one decided to have a dance. What luck. The thing is, that the worst bored people can usually afford not to be, and no one can afford boredom completely. To let your attention flag is to invite disaster. No one is so rich that they cannot be made poor, and no one is so poor that they cannot be made dead. The rich think they can afford to be bored. They can better afford their caskets. |
